I’ll update you on the quilt-in-progress and answer questions in a later post. This Trambling is to introduce my new friend: the jackhammer or whatever the thing drilling through the asphalt is called.
Our village is getting a new sewer system. The workers are at it from 7a to around 5p. In this heat. No matter what they’re being paid, it’s still not enough in my opinion.
The road through the village is closed. This means, for example, instead of being a 10-minute drive from my Italian teacher, it’s now 45 minutes to an hour because I have to drive down to the bottom of the mountain and around. We've switched to Zoom until the work is finished, which will be in about a month and a half.
We’re also having a new kitchen put in. It’s not finished, but at least the drilling there has stopped. At one point we had drilling in the street, drilling in the kitchen and phone calls from two different delivery services asking for detour directions - all at the same time. Literally.
In any case, here’s a pic of the old kitchen.
